"My daughter and my wife are the centre of my universe," says Donnie Yen, his face lighting up at the mere mention of his family. He pulls out his mobile phone to show off pictures of his four-month-old daughter, Jasmine. Moments earlier he was talking about his concerns for the future of Hong Kong cinema, but the transformation from serious movie professional to beaming, proud father takes fractions of a second to complete.

"Here's my daughter," he says, holding the phone up to reveal the plump face of a sleeping baby wrapped up in white blankets. "Isn't she beautiful?" Fatherhood seems to have had a mellowing effect on martial arts star...
